Yala National Park, Sri Lanka

Yala National Park is situated in the south-east region of Sri Lanka and is the 2nd largest National Park in the island, situated some 300 km away from Colombo. The park is known for its leopard density that's higher than anywhere else. These menacing predators prowl majestically in Yala, while elephants roam in their numbers with cautious deer scampering by their sides. The park consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals and is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds.
