Uluwatu temple is one of the Sad Kyhayangan (six most important temples in Bali). It is dedicated to Rudra, the God of the storm, the wind, and the hunt. Built by a priest from Java in A.D. 1546, the temple is considered one of most sacred sites on the island.

It is highly recommended to arrive at 4-5pm before the sunset to walk around and soak in the view. Here you will also meet the free roaming monkeys. Perched right on the edge of the cliff was the magical Temple. At 6pm, just before the sun went down, the Kecak fire Dance is performed. More than 20 men entered the stage and started chanting in harmony; Cak..Cak..Cakcakcak! As the sun started to reach the horizon, Hanuman (the hero) was captured and tied by Rahwana’s army and put in the middle of the circle of fire. This is a marvelous performance that is funny and excites your mind, body and soul.
