Tanah Lot has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders.
Across the temple, to your left is the magnificent ocean front property, Nirwana golf resort designed by Greg Norman. This resort has superb sunset view. Listen to the life music and enjoy sunset and candle light procession at their lounge are recommended.
Note: To reach the temple, visitors must walk through souvenir shop path down to the beach. It is advised that you either wear long pants, or apply bug spray to protect your leg from mosquitoes. Once on the beach, visitors will have to walk in the shallow water or on the wet rocks to reach the large rock where Tanah Lot temple sits on. Please wear comfortable footwear.
