Udawalawe National Park, Sri Lanka

Udawalawe national park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces. The wildlife sighting is surpassing many other famous Eastern African national park. The national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir.  Other than wild buffalo, sambar deer and leopards, the park is also known for its Sri Lankan elephant. There are about 700 Sri Lankan elephants in this wildlife park. Elephant sighting is guaranteed on each safari.
