Dambulla Cave Temple, Sri Lanka

Dambulla Cave Temple is a vast isolated rock outcrop which towers about 600ft above the plain. It stands bare and black exposed to the scorching sun, very little of it sheltered by woodland. It is the largest and best-preserved cave complex in Sri Lank which house the historic rock temple of Dambulla. This is one of the oldest Buddhist shrine in Sri Lanka. It is composed of five caves that house a collection of one hundred and fifty Buddha statures, several deities, and other personages of Buddhist order.
